	Abstract:	Donald McBride was a lawyer and businessman and son of John Harris McBride, owner of Root & McBride Company, a leading wholesale dry goods establishment in Cleveland, Ohio. Donald's brothers, Malcolm and Herbert, were officers in Root & McBride Company. His sister Grace was married to Dr. George Crile, and his sister Edith was married to Henry S. Sherman, chairman of Society for Savings, 1903-1936. Donald's wife, Mary Helen Harman McBride, was daughter of industrialist Ralph A. Harman, who ran Cleveland Forge and Iron Company, was a founder of Cleveland Trust Company, and a director of Cleveland Electric Railway Company. Mary Helen's sister Grace was married to Samuel Livingston Mather, and her sister Sue was married to diplomat John Pelenyi. Her great aunt, Grace Harman Wade, was married to Jeptha H. Wade. The collection consists of Harman and McBride family correspondence, genealogies, coats of arms, reminiscences, memorials, school reports, scrapbooks, ledgers, journals, diaries, newspaper clippings, obituaries, reprints, autograph book, receipts, verses, blueprints, speeches and photographs. Included are personal papers for Ralph A. Harman, Sue Wade Harman and John Pelenyi, Susan Fleming Wade, Donald McBride and Mary Helen McBride, as well as business records, recollections and scrapbooks of Ralph A. Harman relating to the early business, industrial and social history of Cleveland.

	Abstract:	Lance C. Buhl (1940- ), worked at Standard Oil of Ohio (Sohio) and, subsequently, BP America for over ten years managing its corporate contributions and philanthropic projects. Afterward he started a private consulting practice helping various companies and foundations evaluating and starting grant-making opportunities. He also was a professor at University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and Cleveland State University. The collection contains projects, presentations, and correspondence from over thirty years of Dr. Buhl's career.

4	Title:	Ruth Wiener Einstein Family Papers

	Abstract:	Ruth Wiener Einstein and her family were involved in numerous Jewish organizations and projects in Cleveland, Ohio. Educated in Cleveland at Central High School and Flora Stone Mather College of Western Reserve University, Ruth Wiener married Jacob L. Einstein in 1903. His father, Leopold Einstein, along with several cousins, had founded the Ullman Brothers (later the Ullman, Einstein) Company, one of the largest liquor distilleries in the United States. Ruth Wiener Einstein's grandfather, Abraham Aub, was a founder and first president of the Jewish Orphan Asylum (later, Bellefaire). Her father, Abraham Wiener, also served as a president of that organization and was the Director of Charities and Corrections (1889-1901) under Cleveland mayor John Farley. Her mother, Bella Aub Wiener, was one of the founders of the Cleveland Section, National Council of Jewish Women, and the Council Educational Alliance (later the Jewish Community Center). Ruth Wiener Einstein founded Cleveland's Jewish Big Sisters in 1920. She also served as a Board member of the Cleveland Section, National Council of Jewish Women; Montefiore Home; Bellefaire; Jewish Family Service Association; Jewish Community Center; and the Jewish Community Federation. One of her most notable achievements was the founding of Council Gardens, a housing complex for the elderly. She and Jacob Einstein had three children; Paul (Einstein) Eden, Edith (Mrs. Samuel O. Freedlander), and Jane (Mrs. Eldy S. Gross). The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, financial records, legal documents, newspaper clippings, and awards and tributes of various family members. Includes the articles of incorporation and other business materials of the Ullman, Einstein Company.

	Abstract:	The Abington Foundation (f. 1983) was created by David Knight Ford (1894-1993) and Elizabeth Kingsley Ford (1896-1990) to support organizations, generally in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, dedicated to promoting education, health care, economic independence, and cultural activities. The foundation's grant-making philosophy was devised by Mr. Ford and his four sons who comprised the original board of trustees. Each funding area had a particular focus. The educational focus is pre-primary through higher education, and thus the foundation has supported a vast array of educational institutions and programs such as Early Childhood Options of University City, museums (e.g. Cleveland Museum of Natural History), historical societies (e.g. Moreland Hills Historical Society, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad) and universities, including Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University Foundation, Inc. The foundation's healthcare focus is on geriatrics and nursing with grants going to the Eliza Bryant Center, Senior Citizen Resources, Inc., The Center for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, American Red Cross, and many others. Economic independence with a focus on the promotion or sustaining of individual and family self-sufficiency has led the foundation to give grants to organizations such as the Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland, Ohio Hunger Task Force, People's Emergency Shelter, and Habitat for Humanity. In promoting local culture with an emphasis on arts education and historic preservation, the Abington Foundation has made grants to artistic enterprises and groups such as Art House, Inc., Beck Center for the Arts, The Holden Arboretum, Cleveland Public Theater, and Musical Arts Association. The Fords wished to serve their country and community, and dedicated their lives to doing so. David Knight Ford was a captain in the United States armed forces during World War I, joining shortly after graduating from Yale University. After the war, he returned to school and earned a law degree from Western Reserve University. His wife, Elizabeth, volunteered with the Red Cross as a nurse during the First World War, as well as a volunteer nurse's aide during the Second World War, and founded the Ohio League for Nursing (originally the Cleveland Area League for Nursing). Elizabeth earned the Margaret Ireland Award for Civic Achievement in 1973 from the Women's City Club for her works. They married in 1920 and remained so for 70 years until Elizabeth's death in 1990. David's business acumen led to the founding of the Lubrizol Corporation, and later the Lubrizol Foundation. He donated the family farm (originally settled by his great grandfather) situated on land now part of University Circle to help develop Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals. Parts of the farm became the sites of the Case School of Applied Sciences, Western Reserve College, and University Hospitals. Named for the area of New England where David Ford's ancestors settled, the Abington Foundation has continued after the deaths of its founders, providing assistance through 2012. Though both the elder Fords have died, family members continue to serve on the Board of Directors. The collection consists of correspondence, financial records, grant proposals, minutes, newspaper clippings, and receipts.

	Abstract:	Abe M. Luntz was a Cleveland and Canton, Ohio, businessman who ran Luntz Iron and Steel Company. Born in Akron, Ohio, of Polish Jewish immigrant parents, he was raised in Canton where he joined his father's scrap-metal business. Over the years the business expanded into a multi-state corporation. He married Fanny Teplansky in 1916, and in 1940 they moved to Cleveland. Luntz served as president of the Temple-Tifereth Israel in Cleveland from 1950-1960, and supported a wide assortment of civic, cultural, medical, religious, and benevolent groups in Canton and in Cleveland. The collection consists of newspaper clippings, correspondence, and family documents pertaining to Abe M. Luntz and his sons, Robert and William, who were also involved in numerous service organizations. Of particular note are materials pertaining to Abe Luntz's leadership, on the local and regional level, in the National Conference of Christians and Jews.

	Abstract:	Abe M. Luntz (1893-1981) was born in Akron, Ohio, on March 6, 1893 of Polish Jewish immigrant parents, Samuel and Rebecca Wolf Luntz. He and his family moved to Canton, Ohio, when he was around 6 years old. He attended public schools in Canton, was very active in sports, and graduated from Canton's Central High School in 1913. After graduation, he went to work for his father's company, the Canton Iron and Metal Company. With his brother Darwin, he founded the Luntz Iron and Steel Company in 1916 due to the growing need for scrap with the onset of World War I. He held several positions in the Luntz Iron and Steel Company before becoming president in 1951. The company became one of the United States' premiere scrap and steel brokerage firms and expanded into Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Kentucky. Abe Luntz married Fanny Teplansky on October 10, 1916. They had five children, Robert, Richard, William, Theodore, and Joan. The family moved to Cleveland in 1939 for business purposes as well as for more varied religious, musical, and educational opportunities. All of his sons joined in the family business. Luntz was also known for his benevolence to a wide variety of civic, cultural, medical, and religious groups and causes both in Canton and Cleveland. He was president of The Temple in University Circle from 1950-1960. He was active with the YMCA, the Boy Scouts, the Montefiore Home, the Singing Angels, and the Jewish Welfare Fund, among others. He was also a board member of many organizations including Mount Sinai Hospital, the Community Chest, United Appeal, Jewish Community Federation, and the Art Museum. He was especially involved with the National Conference of Christians and Jews (NCCJ), a human rights organization promoting peace, tolerance, and social justice (now known as the National Conference for Community and Justice). He held both local and national offices and won its highest award, the National Human Relations Award, in 1957. He died on February 24, 1981. The collection consists of brochures, certificates, correspondence, a deed, an invitation, legislation, lists, magazine articles, maps, a memoir, newsletters, newspaper articles, notes, obituaries, press releases, programs, reports, speech texts, and a will.

13	Title:	Theodore M. Luntz Papers

	Abstract:	Theodore M. Luntz was born on June 4, 1926 in Canton, Ohio, to Abe M. and Fanny Luntz, a prominent Jewish couple in the Canton community. He was one of five children. He attended University School and Yale University. He graduated from Yale in 1948. He served in the army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. He married Idarose Schock on August 23, 1953. They had four children, Wanda Jean, Pamela, Brian, and Jill. Luntz began his career at Copperweld Steel in Warren, Ohio. After one year he joined his family's business, the Luntz Corporation, one of the United States' premiere scrap and steel brokerage firms. He rose through different positions including treasurer, executive vice president, and eventually became president in 1984. He went on to become chief executive officer and chairman of Luntz Corporation. He also served as president, treasurer, and director of Marquette Steel Company (a division of Luntz) and as vice president of 62 Land Inc. Ted, like his father Abe, was very active in the community, serving on the boards of many of the same organizations as his father. Some of these organizations include the Schnurmann House, Cathedral Latin School, Hawken School, National Conference of Christians and Jews, Montefiore Home, Boy Scouts, The Temple, and the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel. He became a member of the board of trustees of Baldwin-Wallace College in 1979. He and his wife Idarose established both a scholarship fund and the Ted and Idarose Luntz Musical Theatre Fund, an endowment, for the benefit of Baldwin-Wallace students and the Musical Theatre Program. This continued the Luntz Family association with Baldwin Wallace started by Ted's father, Abe, who received an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Baldwin-Wallace in 1974. 	Abstract:	The George S. Dively Foundation was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1956, by industrialist and philanthropist George S. Dively. Funding has centered around the field of higher education, with scholarship funds being established for engineering, business administration, graphic arts, and urban affairs students at numerous institutions, including the University of Pittsburgh, Harvard Business School, Lock Haven (Pennsylanvania) State College, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, and the Florida Institute of Technology. Other organizations receiving funding reflect the interests of Dively; including civic improvement, enterprise development, and the arts. The foundation was officially closed in 1995. 	Abstract:	Kenyon Castle Bolton was a Cleveland, Ohio, businessman and philanthropist and son of Chester and Frances Payne Bolton. He served in the military, beginning in 1936 as a member of the 107th Cavalry of the Ohio National Guard. He entered active service in 1940, served during World War II and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was president of Cleveland Air Taxi, a helicopter taxi service, and had a strong interest in higher education and the arts. Bolton served with the Council of Foreign Ministers in 1947 and 1948, the Austrian Peace Treaty Conference in 1948, and was special assistant of the U.S. ambassador to France. Kenyon C. Bolton was married to Mary Riding Peters, and had five children. The collection consists of family data, personal records, military records, business records, and records of Bolton's organizational involvements, including correspondence, newspaper clippings, genealogical data, summary court papers, air travel cards, contribution lists, articles, brochures, advertisements, contracts, personnel files, and press releases.

	Abstract:	Dudley S. Blossom was a wealthy Cleveland, Ohio, businessman and philanthropist who served as city welfare director, 1919-1921 and 1924-1932. He graduated from Yale University in 1901 and became a partner in the Cleveland firm of William Bingham and Company. He was also an officer or director of other businesses, including Perry-Payne Corporation, the Payne-Bingham Company, the Standard Tool Company, the Cleveland Hobbing Machine Company, the Blossom Lock Company, and the Central National Bank. His wife, Elizabeth Bingham Blossom, was the sister of Congresswoman Frances Payne Bolton and a philanthropist in her own right. Their son, Dudley S. Blossom, Jr. was also a prominent businessman and philanthropist, serving on the boards of many Cleveland civic organizations. The collection consists of correspondence, announcements of events, scrapbooks, musical scores, personal cards, a season ticket for Yale University baseball games, and a report card. The collection primarily pertains to Dudley Blossom, Sr.'s years at Yale University and to his career as welfare director of Cleveland. There is correspondence from Dudley Blossom, Jr. to his mother and some material on the family's philanthropic activities.
